Margaret Scobie was born c1948 at Woola Downs, in the Utopia region, north east of Alice Springs, Northern Territory. She spent a majority of her childhood in Alice Springs attending school and resides there today.
She comes from one of the most famous artistic families, her aunt is the late great Emily Kngwarreye and her cousins include the internationally renowned Kathleen and Gloria Petyarre.
Margaret has been painting since she was young and, under instruction from her cousin Gloria Petyarre, began painting the Bush Medicine Leaves series.
Developing her own unique style Margaret is now a major artist in her own right. Her work is full of vibrant colours and becoming very popular for collectors.
Margaret's work is represented by most of the major galleries throughout Australia.
